Yeehaw!!!

Well I am absolutely pleased to tell you that my call back audition for Oklahoma went pretty fantastic. I will be playing the part of Judd Frye. This wasn't the part I was going for, but I am very pleased with this part. I got to call back auditions yesterday evening and had a blast. I felt like I was doing well and was sure that I was going to get the part that I wanted. I sang great, I danced great, and my acting was great! (Everyone in the room quietly whispers how stuck Jacob is on himself) I'm not trying to be stuck on myself at all and I'm not. I wouldn't ever assume those things or much less say them in such a public way if someone hadn't told me themselves first. That's right. I got to of the most encouraging compliments I have ever gotten before. After I was done doing my readings for Will,Judd, and Curly someone else who was trying out for Oklahoma stopped me and said, "Jacob have I ever told you that I really love watching you act?" I said, "no." She said, "You just turn it on and off and you really are a different person for each character." I was thrilled. Wouldn't you be? Then as I was on my way out the door I said bye to the director and dance choreographer and the director said, "Hold on Jacob I need to talk to you before you leave." I waited until she was done talking to the DC and then she said, "Jacob you were by far the best actor we had here tonight." You can imagine my excitement and the overall uplifting of my spirit. If you can't then imagine people coming up and confirming to you that what you want to do with you life is a good idea. It is something like that. Anyways, don't think of me as stuck up or anything like that. I just wanted to share my excitement wity my loyal readers.
Well it is getting late and I do need to go to bed so I'm gonna phase out. (bringing back old school slang) Peace.

Half way there.

Well so far so good. I got a callback tonight for one of the lead parts for Oklahoma. The theatre company wants to see me again to try out for the part of Will Parker. Hopefully things will go good. I have to sing, tapdance, and act with a couple of actresses. I'll be able to let everyone know how the audtion went soon. Hopefully I will know the results by midnight tonight. I hope I'm not disappointed. Well I've been practicing and praying and that is about all I can do with good conscience. This reminds me of a quote from J.T. Willwright. It goes like this, "If at first you don't suceed, deny your failure and go to the zoo." I don't quite get it either so don't feel bad. I think he just likes the zoo. Moving on.

Today is the first day so far that summer has reared its ugly head with its terrible heat breathe! Up to this point this so called summer has been pleasant and cool. I was hoping this would last, but I guess I have no luck with predicting the weather. People in the summer time remind me of roaches. Have you ever walked in to a dirty kitchen and turned on the lights after they have been off for a while? Well, usually you can see a multitude of roaches and other creepy crawlies scatter for a nice dark spot somewhere. If you take the roaches and make them people and change the light to heat it is the exact same thing. Everyone transforms into an olympic sprinter when summertime hits. They run from one airconditioned spot to the next trying to escape the heat. People mine as well set up running lanes from the entraces to supermarkets to the peoples parking spots. It's kind of funny or maybe all of that was really just boring. You decide.

I was supposed to be working today, but instead was pleasantly suprized to have the day off. I've just been running erands and enjoying the nice grease free day. Good things about having a day off from Provisions Company include the following.
1. I actually got to take a shower at the beginning of my day instead of half way through.
2. I got to sleep in.
3. I got to eat what I want for lunch
4. I didn't have to tell people what to do all day or any other annoying managerial tasks.
5. I got to watch some T.V.
6. I haven't felt rushed all day.
7. I got some time to myself.
8. I got to meet J.T. Willwright for coffee.
9. I didn't have to answer four billion phone calls asking me about "operating hours".

I think nine is a good number to stop at. Nine doesn't get enough credit. Enjoy the spotlight nine. Adios.

The race has started again.

Well it's that time again. A glorious time. A nervous time. A time to put my learned skills to the test and see if people can see the talent. It's time to audition for another show. Auditions for Oklahoma are this Sunday and I'm pretty excited. I'm actually going to be availabe to do this show. I'll have plenty of time. My work schedule is just right and I have nothing else to stand in the way. Acting is what I want to get paid for afterall. This also gives me a chance to use some of the things I've learned this past semester at school. Well... If I get cast in a lead part. I really want a lead. It seems leads at this particular theatre company tend to escape me. Not this time.... I will conquer!!!

I just found out the little hick town I went to highschool in is getting to be pretty cool. While I was away at school the town grew a bunch and a lot of new businesses popped up. There is quite a few, but the most important one is the Port City Java. Now normally I would prefer a locally owned coffee shop or maybe even a Starbucks, but in a town where the locals used to think a good cup of joe (poor joe) came from the Waffle House, this is a big upgrade. I'm pretty happy about it. Guess what else makes me happy......Technology. The audition I'm going to participate in requires me to have a song ready to sing. It went down like this (big breath) I wanted to know when the auditions were, I looked it up in my e-mail, saw it was this weekend, saw I have to have a song prepared, opened my i tunes, looked up some Oklahoma songs, downloaded a couple, and burned them to a cd...(exhale). Just think about that for a second. It really is mind boggling that I could do all that in less than five minutes. (does it hurt to have your mind boggled?) I mean sure technology has its faults like robots or the ability to spread porn all over the place for instance, but for the most part technology is pretty good. Thank you Mr. T. Echnology.

Where do I find myself now? Once again I'm waiting for a friend of mine that apparently has no "normal" concept of how time works. My friend likes to double, triple, and sometimes quadruple book time slots in his day. This results in one time commitment being kept and the others being a bit put off. It is kind of like playing the lottery.

Well as my mentor J.T. Willwright once said, "Time is something to be kept, unless a gopher drinks the gravy, then you have one tasty gopher and people will understand" Don't question it just absorb it. Till next time. Peace.

If everyone is falling asleep does that mean they're bored?

Well, mateys it seems the end of the school year is finally upon us. Don't be frightened by the many headed beast! With venom on its breath, with the mention of exams and papers! Be brave and take hold of your manly pirate sabers and hack the fear into submission!
J.T. Willwright (speaking at the School of Pirate Council)

I'm looking forward to this summer with so much zeal you could spread it on some bread and eat it. I wonder what a ZLT sandwhich would taste like? Someone tell me!!! No, really though my summer is going to be filled with, work, fun, and friends. I'll be back towards the only city that has ever captured my heart, Wilmington. Oh, how I have missed my trips there. I have aquired my usual summer job, day-time manager of Provision Company in Holden Beach. With that kind of combination I have to ask you....who can unlock my tumbler?

I of course have started the beginning of this summer off the same way that I start every summer. I have made a list of things I want to accomplish during this summer. Here they are:

1. I want to save over 3,000 dollars this summer. (approximately 350 a week)
2. I want to spend more time with my family
3. I want to play lots and lots of paintball. (preferably while wearing a pirate costume)
4. I want to star a lead in a play this summer.
5. I want to go to more concerts.
6. I want to take a spur of the moment roadtrip to anywhere.
7 I want to knock the socks off of my fiance with.....romance. (I considered using a snowball)
8.I want to volunteer for a week at Fort Caswell (I miss my buddies)
9. I want to help my mom have a good life.
10. I want to put together a comdey routine and perform this summer.
11. I want to look back at the summer, lift a pint of ale, and toast the good days gone by.

I thought 11 was a good solid number to stop on. Well there it is, my "to do" list if you will. I'll hopefully keep everyone updated as to any accomplishments on the completeing of that list throughout the summer. Well I must go because....well because I want to. See ya later.
